Won't be posting for a while now as the birds and I recover from the 2,000 miles we have driven round the UK this autumn. It's been a good season - Best of Breed at the National being the pinnacle.

Kelso Ornithology Society is the final show of my season, 2013. Best Scots but really pleased that No 23 won her class. The video quality isn't great but it was a lovely day at a friendly local show.

Long day - up at 5 and two hour drive in the dark to Carlisle National Show. Best Flighted Novice and Best Old Varieties Canary Association Novice. Six First place cards beating the only competition but not Best Novice overall which went to Alison Cook who kindly sold me a sibling of that winner - well pleased.

Scots Fancy Specialist Club Show 2013. No cup but delighted to win Best Novice Flighted and Best Novice Clear/Ticked with Elizabeth's brother, Best Novice Yellow with her half-brother and three other Firsts - Elizabeth was second in a class of 3. She must have been having an off day! The Best Yellow was a great prize. I rescued that bird from the cage floor when it was ten days old. Great to see I saved a winner.
And a video of the Scots Fancy section at the show

East Lothian CBS show. No competition, as I knew, but it is important to let my rare breed of canary be seen. In the 1880s it was the most kept and exhibited canary variety in Scotland.
Two week break now until Musselburgh & Whitecraig show on 9 November; then Blackburn on 16 November and finally Kelso on 14 December.
